After a disastrous showing in Week 1 against the Rams in which the Colts lost 46-9, Jacoby Brissett has been named the starter for Week 2 against the Cardinals, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The decision isn’t official, however. Head coach Chuck Pagano declined to say whether Brissett or Scott Tolzien would start against the Cardinals this week, according to the team’s official website. But starting Brissett makes sense.
Why did the Colts do this? Scott Tolzien had a nightmare of a game in Week 1. Tolzien threw two pick-sixes, and nearly a third had it not been for Donte Moncrief committing a facemask that prevented Tolzien from tying the NFL record for a single game. Tolzien finished the game 9-of-18 with 128 yards and two interceptions. He was also sacked four times.
For a while it felt like the Eagles were going to make a statement. They were going to beat the Chiefs, who were riding high after blowing out the Patriots. It didn’t even matter that Carson Wentz threw a terrible pass, because it landed in Zach Ertz’s hands.
The Eagles lost in Kansas City, but that was an away game. Surely it couldn’t apply to home, right? The Phillies hosted the A’s and in the top of the sixth Joey Wendle blasted a grand slam to put the visitors up 6-3.
Not you too, Flyers! Sure, it was only NHL preseason — but not like this, not like this. Much like their fellow Philly sports teams, the Flyers gave up a late lead and ended up losing in overtime.
I’m sorry Philly, but even you have to be able to laugh at what a tragic eight minutes this was. It’s okay, because a hero is waiting in the wings …
